Loud & Loyal

In 2022, the Oklahoma City Thunder launched an exclusive apparel line meant to show appreciation for hardcore fans in the city, as well as the creators of the next generation. The apparel line is limited-run, with items first being available at exclusive drops held throughout OKC and then later sold online via a sharable web address.

I acted as creative lead and design director on Drops 2 and 3. This included designing the apparel, and any promotional assets, both for print and web. I also oversaw creative for each event. I was able to work with printers, lighting, venues, and tech teams to bring my designs to life in a physical space all while working with local companies and artists to create unique experiences for our guests. Several local artists were also highlighted, and I oversaw collaborating with them to highlight their impact in the community.

Drop 2

For the 2nd Drop, the theme was Reverberation.

Our team wanted to highlight how loud our fans are at the games, as well as in everything they do, so we decided to work with a local indoor skate park to host this event. There was a live skate team, food and drink, a mini basketball wall, photo wall with themed skate decks, local artists hand painting skateboards, and a giant projection wall in the middle of a 2 foot halfpipe. I led the creative direction throughout this project, bringing together all the elements for a cohesive event.

The apparel included two shirt designs, as well as a matching hoodie, sweatpants, and beanie outfit. The skate park was more than just the venue - it was the inspiration behind the designs. I aimed to create clothing that would feel at home in the edgy and gritty atmosphere of a skate park, while still appealing to the wider audience of basketball fans.

Drop 3

The theme for the 3rd drop was Sunrise to Sunset, celebrating the non-stop mentality of OKC and its people. To reflect the theme, we held the event at the top of the Devon Tower, directly at the heart of the city. The large windows brought in beautiful natural lighting with an incredible view of downtown OKC. Our team included chrome elements to match the architecture of the tower, as well as create light refraction throughout the space. We also highlighted our brand colors, Sunset Orange and Thunder Blue, each representing the sunrise and sunset.

This event heavily focused on creatives from Oklahoma. There was an audio/video experience, musicians, live painting by two artists, and an embroiderer on-site so guests could customize their new Thunder gear.

The apparel and merch included two shirts, two hats, and a limited edition Simple Modern water bottle. I designed these to reflect the class of the city, with light bases and bright colors for summertime.
